About Dakotah Gray Law

Hello, I'm Dakotah Gray, and I’m the founder of Dakotah Gray Law, LLC. My roots in southern Ohio run deep – I was born and raised in Chillicothe, Ohio and attended Southeastern Local School District for kindergarten through high school graduation. It’s hard to believe, but my journey into law began back when I was in third grade. When my grandfather asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I didn’t hesitate—“A lawyer!” I proudly told him, explaining, “Because lawyers help people. I want to help people.” He would tell me that story over and over as I grew up, always reminding me of my childhood dream to make a real difference in the lives of others.

That childhood enthusiasm stuck with me. After graduating high school, I headed to Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH, where I earned my BA in Political Science, focusing on American Politics and International Relations. While in college, I dove headfirst into various campus activities, but it was mock trial that truly captured my heart. Competing in mock trial not only sharpened my legal skills but sparked my passion for the courtroom. I earned numerous Outstanding Attorney awards during my four seasons, which only fueled my desire to pursue a career in litigation.

After graduation, I took my dream to the next level and attended American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. There, I continued to hone my trial advocacy skills, competing nationally and winning more awards for my courtroom presence. I was honored to become a Regional Champion and was inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers, a national honor society recognizing excellence in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and legal writing.

With my Juris Doctor (J.D.) in hand, I returned to Ohio and began my legal career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Marietta, OH, before transitioning to the Meigs County Prosecutor's Office. During my time as a prosecutor, I focused on sensitive and complex cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and crimes against children. This experience taught me a lot, but it also made me realize how important it is to see the humanity behind the cases I handle. I noticed a gap in the system—a lack of empathy for those involved. That’s when I decided to start my own private practice.

At Dakotah Gray Law, LLC, I aim to create a legal experience that values people as individuals. Every client and every case is different, and I approach each one with empathy, compassion, and a client-centered focus. My goal is to guide people through the often-overwhelming legal system, making sure they feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way.
